A very turbulent history of Istria left a huge imprint on the local gastronomy, culture and customs. Therefore, the goal of the Istrian Agritourism Doors Open Days is to present the Istrian traditional cuisine by offering an authentic experience. Istrian Agritourism Doors Open Days is a unique enogastronomic event that will take place during four weekends in November: 6.-7., 13.-14., 20.-21. i 27.-28. Farms included in this event offer menus based on their own products in combination with various other activities, e.g. seeing farm animals, folk music and dance, live music, and presentation of their product and product of the local family farms.

This year’s Istria Agritourism Das Open celebrates its 11th anniversary. During this period, this event became one of the top events that promote Istrian rural agricultural and gastronomic identity. By celebrating its the 11th anniversary, we want to put the emphasis on the joint work of family farms that have welcomed guests and offered menus comprising their own products for years.

All interested visitors can ask for the information related to the menu offer of specific farms providing agritourism services at the official website of the event at www.dovai.eu and they can reserve their time directly with a particular farm providing agritourism services. As a part of their menu, every farm providing agritourism services offers an appetiser, a starter, main course, side dish and dessert at the promotional price of HRK 120.00. The visitors will be able to round up their overall agritourism experience by visiting cycling and walking tracks where they will learn about the countryside, try the indigenous homemade delicacies and various additional activities such as production of the cukerančići cookies, taste products of local farms and maybe even play ball.

For the forth year in a row and as a segment within the Istrian Agritourism Doors Open Days 2021, a photo contest “Experience Agritourism of Istria” with the slogan: “Taste. Experience. Take photos” will be organised. Since the agritourism is a perfect combination of gastronomy, tradition and culture, the contestants are requested to present their overall experience. The topic of the photo contest is capturing the main features of the Istrian Agriculture Doors Open Days 2021, e.g. the traditional rural interior or exterior, the original Istrian meals and delicacies, experience as well as pleasant atmosphere of the farms offering agritourism services that participate in this event.
